About ACE
One team, design, build, remodel
We are a design, build, and remodel firm in Wayzata where design and construction sit on the same team, so the plans get drawn and built by the same people.
We are a design, build, and remodel firm in Wayzata where design and construction sit on the same team, so the plans get drawn and built by the same people.
We draw the plans, and we run the build.
ACE designs custom homes and major remodels around Wayzata and across the West Metro, then manages the construction from start to finish. Keeping design and the build under one roof means your plan is priced to your budget and built under the eye of the people who drew it, not handed off and reinterpreted halfway through.
We build to perform. With a PHIUS Certified Builder on the team, we pair careful design with high-performance building science. The result is homes that are tighter, quieter, and cheaper to run than code minimum.
Tom Wilmes is the owner of ACE, a licensed builder and general contractor (MN GC #BC633998) with more than two decades in carpentry, construction, and project management, and a PHIUS Certified Passive House Builder. On site you will find him reviewing details, coordinating the trades, and holding quality control as the construction manager and supervisor.
Tom runs the business alongside Missy Wilmes. Together they keep projects organized, communication clear, and the work on schedule, bringing in vetted trade partners and supervising the build closely so one team stays accountable from the first sketch through the final walkthrough.

He enjoys helping clients navigate the construction process and is committed to delivering the same honesty, professionalism, and attention to detail that has always been the foundation of the family business.
Project Consultant
Colten loves connecting with homeowners and helping bring their ideas to life. Whether you are planning a small update or a major remodel, he enjoys getting to know each family and making the process easy and enjoyable.
Outside of work, Colten spends as much time as he can with his fiancée, Kayli, and their two boys, Markam and Bodhi. He is also an avid bass and walleye fisherman and enjoys hitting the golf course, although he will admit his scorecard still has plenty of room for improvement.
Colten is excited to meet you and help make your dream home a reality.
Tell us about your project and we will map the path from design through build.
